In accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation and the requirements of the copyright holders, Ozon sets special rules for downloading and selling certain brands.
These rules apply to brands that have their trademark or brand registered in the Russian or international intellectual property system.
When you register a brand on Ozon, you don’t become a trademark owner. To acquire it, register the brand with certified authorities, for example, Rospatent.
How to apply for trademark ownership
Until you upload the documents confirming your right to sell the brand’s products for these brands, you won’t be able to:
- Sell brand products on Ozon if you have already sold them before. Such products won’t be displayed on Ozon.
- Create or upload new brand products if you haven’t sold them on Ozon yet.
You can view the list of brands that require the copyright holder’s permission when you start uploading products in your personal account. In the Products → Brand documents section, click Certified brands.
Ozon works only with 1–34 classes of the Nice Classification, which are assigned to products. If your document has information on class 35 assigned to services, Ozon rejects it.
Brand documents #
You can confirm your right to place products using the following documents:
- trademark certificate and an extract from Rospatent or WIPO Madrid open sources which should be valid at the time of uploading brand documents;
- license agreement;
- distribution agreement;
- letter of permission for the sale of products in the Russian Federation from the copyright holder;
- product receipt confirming the product purchase from an official distributor;
- other documents.
The list of documents that you need to provide to Ozon depends on the model of granting selling rights for branded products that you use.
Document requirements #

Selling products included in the Ministry of Industry and Trade catalog #
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has legalized parallel imports and posted a catalog of products allowed for such activity on its website. If your product is listed in this catalog, you need to confirm the following:
-
Your product must be original, not fake. To do this, you must provide a contract with the copyright holder / distributor / supplier, and primary documents for this contract: invoices, etc.
We can also request documents confirming the copyright holder’s rights for the brand in the territory of the exporting country. -
Your product must be in the legally established product catalog. In this case, you’ll need to prove that the code of the products you imported (HS code) matches the FEACN (Foreign Economic Activity Commodity Nomenclature, “ТН ВЭД”) code of the products from the catalog.
This document could be a customs declaration, as well as any other document that contains the product code (HS code) placed by you for sale on our site.
You no longer need to provide documents confirming the right to sell the branded products in the Russian Federation for products from the catalog.
How to upload a confirming document #
- Go to the Products → Brand documents section and click Add document.
- Specify the confirming document details and its validity period. Indefinite documents aren’t accepted.
- Upload a file with an electronic copy of the document with a maximum size of 10 MB.
- Click Add document.
The brand document will be sent for verification. It usually takes 5 to 10 business days. Keep track of the status in the Products → Brand documents section. If there are problems with the documents, the status will change to “Rejected”. Rejection reason will be specified as well.
After verification, you’ll be able to sell brand products on Ozon: a confirmation of the right to sell will appear on this brand PDPs within a day.

“Original” tag #
Ozon analyzes which products of popular brands are most often counterfeited and places the “Original” tag on the verified PDPs. This makes it easier for customers to make a purchase decision. We consider each brand on a case-by-case basis. We can remove the “Original” tag from your product if we suspect that it’s fake. This way we protect Ozon reputation.
Edit the document with the “Rejected” status and submit a new package of documents to confirm the product origin. If the uploaded documents pass verification and we have no doubt about originality, the “Original” tag appears on your product again.
